This is the necklace that I had made for myself when we first invited Heather Moore Jewelry to Hazel Boutique. I wanted to combine the metals and disc styles so that I could show people the basics at a glance. Over a year later, we still often suggest that people consider starting with these basics–initial, anniversary, and kids. I did my initial C on a large gold disc with a gold frame. The rimless medium silver disc with the heart commemorates the day that my husband and I were married in the presence of our family, friends, and Elvis at The Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. The small gold rimless disc that says Jed is in honor of our first son. The medium silver disc with the gold frame is for our second son, Elias. Elias is adopted from Ethiopia and on the back is the date that he arrived in the United States in my husband’s arms. It also has a single black diamond.
My necklace has grown a lot since these early days!! I have switched to a 24 inch yellow gold ball chain and have added a gold dog bone for my beloved little chihuahua, Spud. I also have a mini framed gold disc with a skull and cross bones for my two little pirates and a gold open circle the says “The force will be with you always.” There are 1.5 mm diamonds on either side of “always” of course! On a large rose gold id tag with a yellow frame and stars, I have a favorite Grateful Dead lyric: Nine-mile skid on a ten-mile ride Hot as a pistol but cool inside. That’s for me!! I also wear a 16 inch gold link chain which holds a single jumbo gold disc paying homage to my birthplace–Atlantic City, NJ. The gems change a lot, and the charms move around, but that is one of my favorite things about the line. When I get restless, I can just mix it up!
